Two Soldiers Martyred in Buner Operation Targeting High-Value Terrorist: ISPR Report

Two soldiers from the Pakistan Army were martyred during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) that resulted in the killing of a “high-value terrorist” in Buner district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The operation targeted terrorists reported in the area, leading to the death of Saleem alias “Rabbani,” a notorious figure with a Rs5 million bounty on his head.

Two other militants were injured in the exchange of fire.

Lance Havildar Mudassar Mehmood and Lance Naik Haseeb Javed were identified as the martyred soldiers.

They had served in the Pakistan Army for 16 and five years, respectively.

The security forces are conducting sanitization operations to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the region.

Pakistan has experienced a rise in terrorist incidents, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan accounting for the majority of fatalities and attacks in the first quarter of 2024, according to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS).

The report indicates that civilians and security forces personnel have borne the brunt of these attacks, while efforts continue to combat terrorism in the country.
