Healthcare professionals observe Azam Khan’s health status before upcoming New Zealand games

Injury Concerns for Azam Khan Ahead of Pakistan vs New Zealand T20I Series Opener

Ahead of the first of five T20I matches against New Zealand today, there are concerns over the availability of Azam Khan, known for his aggressive batting, due to an injury scare.

During Wednesday’s training session, Azam experienced discomfort in his right knee and calf muscle while batting in the nets, prompting immediate medical attention.

His participation in the upcoming matches hinges on the results of radiology reports.

Despite a relatively modest T20I record, Azam’s recent performance in the Pakistan Super League and overall T20 career earned him a spot in the national squad. It’s worth noting that Azam recently participated in a fitness camp organized by the Pakistan Army.

Additionally, star pacer Shaheen Afridi may miss multiple matches as part of the team’s rotation policy to manage workload ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Afridi is expected to sit out the first two matches but will likely return for the last three.

Here are the squads for both teams: Pakistan: Babar Azam (c), Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan (wk), Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Mohammad Amir, Muhammad Irfan Khan, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usama Mir, Usman Khan, Zaman Khan
